The Better Leadership Approach

Embark

Step into the journey ready to take on new attributes and mindsets; be challenged to transition into new leadership roles.  The journey begins with a call to embark.

As you embark, you will ask yourself:

    1. Am I open to life-long learning? How do I think it will help me as a leader?
    2. How do I currently show up in workplace interactions? Do I want this to change? If so, how?
    3. How do I become more effective and positively impact the work and others?  How do I add value to the organization?  
    4. What leadership skills could I use to influence how others show up in their workplace interactions?
    5. My personal integrity and sense of purpose will influence my leadership — how?

    6. What will I need to learn, practice, and do to equip myself to lead and participate in a changing business and cross-cultural environment?
    7. What can I do to sustain the energy for leadership?

Target Leader

Aspiring and new leaders of people; high-performing individual contributors who are eager to develop their leadership capabilities to add greater value in their current roles and prepare themselves for formal leadership positions.

 

Program Structure

  1. Cohort model
  2. 6-week program
  3. 2-5 hours per week investment
    • Weekly self-directed work (1- 2 hours)
    • Live discussion sessions (1 hour)
    • Group coaching (1 hour every other week)
    • Weekly tools & tasks to apply learning on the job
  4. Enhance self-awareness through tools (e.g., Everything Workplace DiSC by Wiley)
    5.  Optional professional coaching packages (additional fees)

Course Content

  1. Week 1—Growth Mindset – Becoming a Student of Leadership
    1. Emphasis on growth mindset—Seek knowledge, both lived and studied, and be a lifelong learner
    2. Intelligent, curious, and perceptive traits
  2. Week 2—Charting my Leadership Development Journey
    1. Seek and receive feedback & expanding self-awareness
    2. Embracing feedback, demonstrating grit, accepting responsibility and being accountable, feeling and expressing gratitude traits
  3. Week 3 - Inspirational Leadership Presence & Communication
    1. Inspirational leadership presence, emotional intelligence & self-regulation, and effective communication
    2. Intelligent, curious, modeling work ethic, acting with integrity traits
  4. Week 4 - Teaming, intact teams, and highly-effective team behaviors
    1. Teamwork and being a steward of culture, collaboration, and encouraging belonging and inclusion 
    2. Curious and perceptive, modeling work ethic, acting with integrity, cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging traits
    3. Adding value in your current role and making a positive impact on others
  5. Week 5 – Leading with Integrity & Building Trust
    1. Trust as the foundation of leadership & relationships, doing the right things  & empowering others
    2. Model work ethic, express genuine gratitude, act with integrity and trustworthiness, cultivate a culture of inclusion and belonging, grit traits
  6. Week 6 – Charting my path forward
    1. Creating my personal leadership development plan & engaging others to support and encourage my growth
    2. Personal accountability plan 
    3. Embrace feedback and new ideas, demonstrate grit, accountability, model work ethic, forward thinking traits

Program outcomes

Answering the call to embark guides you to leadership skills and the knowledge to use them.  
 
At the completion of the Embark Program, participants will typically be equipped with the skills and readiness to
      1. Identify and apply key skills, behaviors, and mindsets required to lead

      2. Use principles of self-awareness and other-awareness to create productive professional interactions
      3. Apply new tools and practices to gain notice as a potential leader
      4. Design an individual development plan (IDP) to progress in your leadership journey
      5. Execute an accountability plan to ensure your IDP is successful

The Better Leadership Approach

Elevate

Throughout your journey, you will find your way to build on your existing skill sets and push yourself forward to elevate your leadership capabilities to have more positive, powerful impacts on the people you lead and the broader organization.   You will explore opportunities to build our own potential while bringing out the best in those you lead.
 

As you elevate, you will ask yourself:

    1. What strengths and traits should I lean into to expand my leadership potential?
    2. Who are the people and places that help me learn best? What about them works for me?
    3. What kind of coaching did I receive that was successful, and how can I employ it with others?
    4. What drives people to perform at their best, and how can I motivate that?
    5. What kind of experiences will bring out the best in others?
    6. How can I influence culture up and down the organization ladder?

Target Leader

Current professional leaders of people; high potential mid-level leaders who aspire for senior leadership roles;  currently managing the challenge of leading up and down the organization ladder.

 

Program Structure

  1. Cohort model
  2. 16-week program
  3. 2-5 hours per month
  4. Weekly self-directed work (1- 2 hours)
  5. Live facilitator-led discussion sessions (1 hour)
  6. Professional coaching with ICF certified coach (group and individual)
  7. Enhance self-awareness through assessment tools and key stakeholder feedback
  8. Apply learning and tools on the job

  1. Module 1:  Leading Self
    1. Charting a personal leadership development path
    2. Deepening self-awareness through feedback, self-reflection, and assessments
    3. Discovering your personal leadership purpose 
    4. Inspirational leadership presence
    5. Practicing personal sustainability and restoration
  2. Module 2:  Leading Others
    1. Developing other-awareness and emotional intelligence
    2. Relationship building and establishing trust
    3. Building teams 
    4. Cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging
    5. Feeling and expressing gratitude
    6. Developing others
    7. Rewarding and Recognizing others
    8. Managing performance 
  3. Module 3:  Leading in the Organization
    1. Driving for results and performance
    2. Stewarding culture
    3. Problem solving and and analytical thinking
      4. Systems thinking

Program outcomes

Elevating your leadership makes you a better leader of people, teams, and strategic initiatives  
    1. At the completion of the Elevate Program, you will have the skills and readiness to
      1. Develop deeper self-awareness and EQ
      2. Learn and use coaching fundamentals
      3. Understand how to lead individuals to greater performance
      4. Better manage performance, give feedback, and develop people
      5. Manage remote employees and build a strong culture from afar
      6. Use tools to better manage time, prioritize, make decisions, and lead and develop others

Excel

Seek to have greater impact through higher levels of leadership and advanced levels of responsibility.  Better Leaders find that their leadership journey has helped others grow, expand their learning and inspire them to leadership.

As you excel, you will ask yourself:
 
    1. Am I open to life-long learning? How do I think it will help me as a leader?
    2. How do I currently show up in workplace interactions? Do I want this to change? If so, how?
    3. How do I become more effective and positively impact the work and others?  How do I add value to the organization?  
    4. What leadership skills could I use to influence how others show up in their workplace interactions?
    5. My personal integrity and sense of purpose will influence my leadership — how?
    6. What will I need to learn, practice, and do to equip myself to lead and participate in a changing business and cross-cultural environment?
    7. What can I do to sustain the energy for leadership?

Target Leader

Experienced senior leaders; leaders looking to significantly level up their impact on their organization; and leaders looking to prepare themselves for expanded levels of responsibility (greater scope and breadth).

 

Program Structure

  1. Cohort model
  2. 4-month program
  3. Self-directed work 
  4. Live facilitator-led discussion sessions
  5. 360 feedback - enhance self-awareness through tools and key stakeholder feedback
  6. Peer coaching and mentoring
  7. Professional coaching with ICF certified coach 
  8. Two “Intensives” in-person  cohort sessions (2 days each) linked with self-study, professional coaching, and discussion sessions

Course Content

  1. Module 1:  Self-Mastery
    1. Deepening self-awareness
    2. Self-regulation and emotional intelligence
    3. Life-long learning and a growth mindset
    4. Practicing personal sustainability and restoration
    5. Developing the heart, mind, and body of leadership
  2. Intensive 1:  Self-Mastery & being a life-long student of leadership
    1. The cohort and facilitators will come together for a 2 -day immersive developmental experience
  3. Module 2:  Leading Others and the Organization 
    1. Leading Leaders
    2. Building Teams
    3. Cross-cultural awareness and creating a culture of inclusion and belonging
    4. Equipping and empowering others
    5. Innovation & problem solving
    6. Strategic perspective and approach
    7. Systems thinking
  4. Intensive 2:  Leading Into the Future
    1. The cohort and facilitators will come together for a 2 ½ day immersive developmental experience
